Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 June 2026. Honest Grader (“we”) is operated from India and built for educators. This policy explains what we collect and why, in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and GDPR principles.

What we collect

• Account email — to identify your account and apply your monthly quota.
• Submission content — the question, rubric and student answer you submit for grading, plus the generated result, stored to power your dashboard.
• Usage metadata — timestamps and counts, to enforce free-tier limits and improve the product.

How grading works

Submitted text is sent to a large-language-model provider through our managed gateway solely to produce the grade and feedback. We do not sell your data or use student answers to train third-party models.

Data you are responsible for

You are the data fiduciary for your students’ answers. Please obtain any consent your institution requires before uploading identifiable student work. Avoid submitting sensitive personal data beyond what grading needs.

Retention & deletion

We retain submissions to provide your dashboard history. You may request deletion of your account and all associated submissions at any time by emailing the address below; we action requests within 30 days.

Security

Sessions are signed and HTTPS-only. Access to stored data is restricted to operating the service.
